The 40 Rich Maths Tasks Ripe for Literacy Integration is a list of 40 tasks that have been deliberately created with components of maths within them.  Because of the depth of thinking & research involved and the authentic opportunity to communicate what they’ve come up with, these tasks can also require learners to apply their knowledge from across the English Curriculum.  

They will get to use a variety of skills in context, giving their learning more meaning and connection.  They will need to read-view-listen to find the information they need and write-present-speak what they have come up with to a chosen audience and for a specific purpose.  As a bonus, they may also have to draw on knowledge from other curriculum areas.

There is also a process for learners to work through to get the most out of the task, and matching templates to guide learners’ independence.
